New Load Control System TarpX Joins Keep California Beautiful in California Statewide 2009 Great American Cleanup TM.

Keep California Beautiful announced today that Load Control Systems, Inc., makers of TarpX, will be a sponsoring partner with Keep California Beautiful in the California Statewide 2009 Great American CleanupTM on May 6, 2009 in one of its key focus areas – load control on vehicles and utility trailers.

California is second in the nation in the number of registered pickup trucks with nearly four million, and it costs Caltrans alone more than $60 million annually to collect and process road debris and litter. Road debris and related accidents are also significant sources of traffic congestion.

Keep California Beautiful will be working with Caltrans, the California Highway Patrol, Department of Motor Vehicles, Pactiv, Waste Management, cities, counties and many others throughout the state on the litter reduction and load control emphasis as part of its 2009 Great American Cleanup TM. The 2009 Secure Loads = Clean Roads campaign is expected to generate even more involvement and awareness than previous efforts, with a projected reach of nearly 20 million California residents. TarpX will honor a 10% discount through the Secure-Up Campaign Coupon for all Californians including individuals, businesses or governmental and nongovernmental agencies who purchase a system online through August 31, 2009. Additionally, TarpX will contribute 5% of the purchase price to Keep California Beautiful to support their ongoing efforts. Purchasers must use the special offer code KCB2009 to receive their 10% discount.

“Load control is a primary emphasis for Keep California Beautiful, and we believe TarpX is an important product in making sure materials and items stay in vehicles to protect land and water resources and improve traffic safety,” KCB Executive Director Christine Flowers-Ewing said. “Keep California Beautiful is a national leader in promoting the importance of load control as part of its overall environmental and beautification efforts, and we are proud to be part of its California Statewide 2009 Great American CleanupTM,” Load Control Systems, Inc., President Trevor Colby said.

Caltrans and CHP will conduct the third Annual Litter Collection and Enforcement Day on May 6, 2009. The Division of Maintenance forces will concentrate on litter cleanup in an effort to jolt the public's awareness of the volume and cost for litter, trash, debris, and illegal dumping abatement in California. Caltrans constant efforts are a drain on limited resources, as many productive uses could be otherwise found for these funds. KCB’s plans to coordinate with its partners to help educate millions of Californians on the importance of load control and how to properly secure a load. A demonstration will be held on May 6, 2009. The primary goals of the event are to collect litter, save taxpayer dollars and recycle more trash – all in an effort to help make California the most beautiful and cleanest state in the nation!

Everyone has an unsecured load story. Unsecured loads impact thousands and thousands of people every day environmentally, visually, with traffic safety and congestion impacts and governmental debris collection and environmental costs. We are very pleased to team with KCB and its other sponsors and partners to reduce that impact,” Colby said.
